The QYOU, a leading curator of Internet video for the TV everywhere market, has announced a partnership with TotalPlay, a Mexican-based triple play provider, to bring The QYOU’s curated short-form content to subscribers across Mexico. TotalPlay will air The QYOU’s linear channel on its IPTV service. The deal marks The QYOU’s entry into the Latin American market.

Mexico has a thriving online video culture. comScore estimates that 81% of Mexican Internet users watch online videos. In response, video service providers and TV operators are moving to better reflect these tastes by adding new programming that showcases high quality short form content, curated and packaged for the television environment.
Hugo Adrián Hernández, TotalPlay´s director content acquisition, said: “We are witnessing a significant boom in consumer appetite for short-form content – particularly among the millennial group, a demographic that grew up with Internet video. The QYOU offers a content mix that fills a gap in our current offering, creating an innovative entertainment package that is attractive to a wide audience. Ultimately, it bridges the gap between online and television entertainment, giving our subscribers a much more seamless way to access the videos they love. We’re confident that the channel will be a big hit with our audience.”
The QYOU’s offering is unique, giving TV subscribers across the world a carefully curated and presented line-up of Internet content they can watch on their TV sets or mobile devices. Its linear channel and playlist-driven mobile app features inspiring videos from a range of genres including short films, comedy, music, dance, and stunts. In addition, The QYOU has signed a number of custom programming deals this year with leading subscription TV and video services such as Ziggo and Fox Sports. This latest partnership marks further global business expansion for The QYOU.
Scott Ehrlich, The QYOU’s co-founder and CEO, said: “It’s evident that there is strong appetite for Internet content in Mexico, so it makes a lot of sense for an innovative operator like TotalPlay to integrate The QYOU as part of its IPTV offering. We’re thrilled to be launching into LATAM for the first time, and excited to be working with TotalPlay.”
